Our Vision. The world is a changing place; as students, our world is contained in school and social events. As both citizens of our nation and the world, we have a duty to stay involved and informed to both foreign and domestic affairs. Democracy necessitates civilian involvement and for us here at The Current Events Chronicle, we are moving to educate the world on relevant matters. Elevating student awareness is important as issues of the world become more interdependent because we will become active global citizens, not just citizens of a country. As we stand at the precipice of leaving the shelters of school life, we want to be more attuned- not caught off guard- at the fact that there is a world beyond our own.

My name is Viren Sehgal. I am a freshman at the Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program. On our own, we might not be aware of internationally occurring events, but all events connect together to shape our daily lives. Creating the Current Events Chronicle allowed us to be a conduit of news from other countries in a congregated e-space.

Outreach My name is Reena Gupta and I am a sophomore at Herricks High School. From a young age, I have always been interested in learning about current events. As a high school student, I often find that I don’t have enough time to read through a long article, and Current Events Chronicle has been able to simplify major news stories into short, concise articles allowing me to keep up with everything from an unbiased standpoint. As a senior writer for CEC and a part of the CEC Podcast team, I have been thankful to have the opportunity to help inform our readers throughout the world. |
Amber Xie
Podcast Coordinator My name is Amber Xie, and I’m a junior at Herricks High School. We’ve grown up in an age when we are constantly immersed within news and media, which is in turn accompanied by the dangers of biased media and misinformation. As the producer of the Current Events Coverage podcast, my goal is to spread unbiased information directly from reliable sources through collaboration with our guests, including experts, educators, and other youth passionate about current events, to our audience, working to bring an end to misinformation. |
